Water Science and Environmental Engineering Center is jointly established by experts from Shenzhen University and Tsinghua University. It has established a long-term and strategic cooperative relation with Water Resources Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality. Based on the characteristics of coastal cities in South China, the center is oriented to a comprehensive inter-disciplinary and innovative study between water conservancy science & engineering and environmental engineering. It focuses on advanced researches such as urban hydrology, environmental ecology, environmental chemistry, water resources planning and management, aquatic environment remediation, and R&D and application of eco-remediation for waterways, smart water utilities and water pollution treatment. The center is also engaged in the generalization and industrialization of the scientific achievements. The director of the center is Professor Wang Guangqian, who is entitled academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
