Prof. Yang Quanhong is a chair professor and doctoral supervisor with the School of Chemical Engineering, Tianjin University. Prof. Yang is a winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, a “Yangtze Scholar” special-term professor of the Ministry of Education, and a “highly cited scholar” of Clarivate and Elsevier. His research fields include carbon functional materials, new two-dimensional materials and advanced batteries. He has made encouraging progresses in dense energy storage and lithium sulfur catalysis. He has won second prize of national technological invention award and Tianjin natural science first prize, etc. He is the vice chief editor of Energy Storage Materials; the editor or editing member of Carbon, Science China Materials and other 10 journals. He has published over 200 SCI papers with over 20000 citations and a H factor of 80. He is the owner of over 40 Chinese or international patents.

To solve the bottlenecks of “can’t work well” and “can’t work” of traditional carbon materials represents both opportunity and challenge for graphene. The report will analyze the challenges of making advanced batteries and electrochemical energy storage systems using traditional carbon materials, and then discuss the opportunities for graphene. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of dense energy storage, and the theoretical basis and technical advantage of dense energy storage using graphene. The lecturer will introduce his team’s research progress in graphene high-density assembling, and high-volume-energy-density energy storage materials/devices; as well as the outlook for future researches.

All those who are interested in the topic are encouraged to attend the lecture!
