讲座摘要:
Nature journals have a two-fold mission:facilitating the prompt communications of the most important scientificdevelopments to the relevant research communities, while at the same timefostering a greater appreciation of these great works of science amongst thewider public or non-specialists. Although more titles have joined the Naturefamily of journals in the recent years, these core principles remain largelyunchanged. In this talk, I will endeavor to shed light on how our editors applythese principles in practice, and so determine which few of the many highquality research submissions that we receive make it through to publication. Asthe scholarly publishing landscape is currently undergoing a period ofunprecedented change, particularly given that the recent launch of ‘Plan S’ byEuropean Commission is pushing forward the transition to full and immediateopen access to research publications, I will also try to show some of thebenefits of publishing open access and introduce the measures we have taken tofacilitate open science at Nature Communications, the flagship open accessjournal of Nature Research.
