讲座摘要：

Phase transfer reactions using chiralcations and inorganic basic salts such as hydroxides and carbonates are but asub-set of a larger group of reactions known as chiral cation ion-pairingcatalysis. Herein, we report three reactions using chiral dicationicbisguanidinium ion pairs as catalysis; they are are each paired with threedifferent organometallic anions – permanganate, tungstate and molybdate. Theion pairs-catalyzed asymmetric oxidation of alkenes and sulfoxidationrespectively. In this new mode of cataysis, evidence suggests that rateacceleration is mainly attributed to transition state stabilization through attractivecation-anion interaction rather than enhancing solubility in organicsolvents.
