Brief CV:■Work: Professor (accelerated promotion),Nanyang Technological University; Chair Professor, Guizhou University;Singapore NRF Investigator. ■Education: 1998-2002undergraduate (Tsinghua and HKBU); 2002-2007 PhD (UW-Madison), 2007-2009postdoc (UC-Berkeley). ■Selected Recognitions:Changjiang Scholar，TCI-SNIC Industrial Award，Yale-Aldrich Lectureship, Japan Chemical Society Lectureship, GSKAward on Sustainable Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Singapore NRF Investigator,Nanyang Research Award, Singapore Yong Scientist Award, NRF Fellow, AbbottLaboratories Fellowship

The Chi laboratory focus on thedevelopment of fundamentally novel basic catalytic activation modes with usefulsynthetic applications for the preparation of pharmaceuticals, agriculturechemicals, fine chemicals, and for efficient assembly and/or modification ofpolymers, biomolecules, and other functional molecules. Over the past years, wehave developed new activation modes and synthetic transformations enabled byN-Heterocyclic Carbene (NHC) as the key organic catalyst.
