College of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering,a comprehensive SCI. & Tech. school inShenzhen University,was established in August 2006by amalgamation of departments ofApplied Chemistryof Shenzhen University created in 1985andChemistry&Biology of Normal School of Shenzhen University established in 1995. It provides undergraduate programs for 4 disciplines, i.e. Chemistry, Food Science and Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, as well as New Energy Science and Engineering, and offers first-class master program (science) of Chemistry, second-class master program of Applied Chemistry (engineering) and master program of Chemical Engineering. At present, there are a total of nearly 1000 undergraduates and over 500 postgraduates at school.

The college consists of anexperiencedfaculty teamofteaching and research. At present, there are 99 full-time faculty members and staff, including 22 full professors and 28 associate professors. Among them, 1 professor was elected as theNational Fund for Distinguished Young Scientist, 1 professor was elected as the National Fund for Excellent YoungScientist, 4 professors were elected in the “Guangdong Thousand-hundred-ten Talent Project”,2 professors wereawarded the “Excellent Teacher in South Guangdong”,3 teacherswereawarded the “Excellent Young Teachers of Guangdong Province”, 1 was one of the“ShenzhenHigh-level Expertise Leading Talents”, 16 in the“High-level Backup Technical Talent”, and 26 were elected as the Shenzhen Recruitment Program of Global Experts (known as Peacock Plan Talents).The college pays special attention to introducing and training overseas excellent young teachers, and 59% of the teachers have oversea study or work experience. 9 prominent scientists from both China and abroad have been invited as either affiliate professors or visiting professors to our college including AcademicianWu Qi(Chinese Academy of Sciences), AcademicianWang Guangqian(Chinese Academy of Sciences),andAcademicianSun Xueliang(the Royal Academy of Sciences andEngineeringof Canada).
