Departmentof Food Science and Engineering (DFSE)isofficiallyestablished in January of 2006, which originated fromFoodScience andEngineering Modul in College of Sciences at Shenzhen University. Our department owns a group of dedicated young and middle-aged faculties with distinctive specialty characteristics and profound scientific attainments. At present, there are11of full-time faculties including2professors,6associated professors, and3associated researchers. Also, our awarded faculties covers such as1Excellent Teachers of South Guangdong,3High-level Backup Technical Talents, and3teachers are awarded as the Shenzhen Recruitment Program of Global Experts (known as Peacock Plan Talents),1 Li Yuan Excellent Youths ofSZU.
During last decade, DFSE has gradually developed andexpanded to 3research directions and (i.e., Food Safety and Risk Assessment, Food Nutrition and Health, and Food Green Manufacturing).Research projects and innovative research achievements are rapidlyincreased exceeding60 so far. The Center for Food Science and Processing Technology was established on the basis of the College.Prof.Wu Qi,the Fellowof the Chinese Academy of Sciences, takes on charge ofthe Center. Our department aimsfordeveloping professional skills in our students, including strong practical ability, solid theoretical fundamental knowledge and extensive horizons. Our department has trained a lot of excellent students of both integrity and competence for the society.
The department actively carries out domestic, international exchange and cooperation, providing suitable and sound conditions for opening education and cultivation of creative talents. We have established close academic and research partnership with higher education institutessuch as Chinese Academy of Sciences,Shenzhen Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. We also established joint training projects for undergraduates and postgraduates with overseas prestigious universities like Dublin Institute of Technology.
