Shaozhong Ge (葛少中),University of Science and Technology of China (BSc, 2002); Abo Akademi University, Finland (MSc, 2005); University of Groningen, the Netherland (PhD, 2009). Postdoc Research Associate at University of California, Berkeley and UIUC (2010-2014). Associate Profess at National University of Singapore (NUS, 2021-Present); Assistant Professor at NUS (2015-2020).

讲座摘要:

Organoboron compounds are versatile building blocks for synthetic organic chemistry due to their stability, low toxicity, and diverse reactivity. As a unique family of organoboronates, polyborylated alkanes have gained increasing attention, particularly because the multiple boron groups in these polyborylated alkanes have different reactivity that allows stepwise and selective functionalization of these borylated alkanes. During our effort in developing hydroboration of unsaturated hydrocarbons catalyzed by cheap, abundant, and non-toxic base catalysts, we have identified several selective cobalt catalysts that are very effective in diborylation and triborylation of alkenes or double hydroboration of 1,n-dienes. These diborylation, chain-walking dihydroboration, and triborylation reactions provide straightforward access to synthetically versatile gem-diborylalkanes and 1,1,3-triborylalkanes. The reaction scope, synthetic utilities, and detailed mechanism on these cobalt-catalyzed reactions will be discussed.
