Xuechang Zhou's Research Lab at the Shenzhen UniversityWe seek to understand and develop strategies to control the physics and chemistry of surfaces and interfaces at different scales towards applications spanning from wearable healthcare monitoring to transient medical implants. Currently, we focus on developing functional soft materials with advanced electrical and mechanical properties as well as their application as interficial materials to bridge the gap between soft biological tissues and rigid electronic chips. The research is highly multidisciplinary, involving chemistry, materials science, physics, biology, engineering, and medicine. In particular, we aim to pursue our research in the following areas:
1. Surfaces and interfaces: adhesion, temporary bonding, anti-icing/frosting/fogging
2. Advanced materials: tough (organo-)hydrogels, liquid metals, conductive polymers 3. Wearable electronic devices: bioelectrodes, human-machine interfaces, soft electronics
Prof. Xuechang Zhou:
Xuechang Zhou is currently a distinguished professor and Head of Department of Chemistry at Shenzhen University. He received his B.S in polymer chemistry at the University of Science and Technology of China in 2005, and Mphil and PhD degrees in chemistry at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2007 and 2010, respectively. From 2010 to 2014, he worked as a Postdoctoral at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He joined the College of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering at the Shenzhen University in 2014. His current research interests include the fabrication and application of self-adhesive conductive polymer composites, tough hydrogels, surfaces and interfaces of liquid metals, and flexible electronics. So far, he has achieved more than 110 high-quality research outputs in top-tier journals, such as Nat. Electron., Angew. Chem., Nat. Commun., Adv. Mater., Adv. Funct. Mater., etc. The total citation number of his papers is more than 6000. He also serves as young advisory broad member of EcoMat. He has been invited to give more than 30 talks in international conferences, universities, and institutes. He has organized several conferences and served as the symposium chair or conference co-chair.
